Houston Jewish Headstone Design & Production
At Gaitz Memorials, we provide turnkey cemetery marker design services to help you design a headstone that honors your deceased loved one. As memorialization professionals, our team can help you design a cemetery marker that suits your loved one. We offer standard and custom options for each design element to help you create a beautiful headstone in remembrance of the deceased.
We begin our process by collecting information from you, such as name, date of birth and death, and any inscriptions or symbols you would like on the headstone. We also walk you through the different options to help you choose the size, color, finish, and other elements of the headstone.
In addition, we will need to know the cemetery name, any synagogue affiliation, and the name of the rabbi who performed the funeral service to help us stay within any applicable guidelines or standards for cemetery markers. If you have an unveiling date in mind, please let us know so we can ensure the marker is completed and delivered to the cemetery in time. You will also need to arrange the ceremony with your synagogue to make sure that the headstone is placed before that date and to ensure the stone is draped before the ceremony begins.
Once we have all the information we need, our artist produces a color drawing for your review. After approval, we send the information to the rabbi to add and approve the Hebrew inscriptions. We understand you want to ensure your loved one’s headstone is perfect, which is why we offer two free revisions for each cemetery marker for style changes and to correct any mistakes before production.
After the headstone design is finalized, our specialists use high quality materials and expert methods to produce the marker. While we do not set the headstone at the cemetery, we do deliver the marker to the cemetery for installation. In most cases, the marker can be ready in four to six weeks, depending on granite choice, cemetery committee approvals, and Hebrew approval from the rabbi. We are here to make this difficult purchase as stress-free as possible for you.
Ornamentation & Texturizing Of Jewish Cemetery Markers
Our granite cemetery markers come in standard colors of gray, black, primrose, and imperial red. We also have custom granite color options to choose from for your marker. You can choose the type of finish you want on the stone and edges of the marker. Standard headstone textures include:
- Polished: Smooth, high gloss surface
- Sawed: Smooth, matte surface
- Steeled: Smooth, frosted surface
- Rock Pitched: Rough surface
Headstone edges can also be polished, chiseled, or sawn to help create a border around the marker.
For inscriptions and epitaphs, we have multiple fonts to choose from to memorialize your loved one. We begin by creating a stencil with the information you want on the cemetery marker, inspecting it carefully for accuracy and spelling. Then, we adhere the stencil to the stone and apply sandblasting to specific areas of the marker to create the inscription. We also offer carving services for symbols, shapes, and other ornamentations for the headstone. Headstone production only takes a few weeks, once we obtain all approvals.
