Houston Jewish Headstone Design for Spouse

If you’ve lost your husband or wife, then you likely want to design a Houston Jewish headstone that really memorializes them and their life. Creating a headstone for a lost spouse can be a rewarding experience and a way to reflect on all the good memories. In this blog, we’ll offer some tips to help you with your spouse’s headstone design.

Designing a Houston Jewish Headstone for Your Spouse

Losing your spouse can be devastating, but creating the right memorial for them can help with your grief. The key is to design a Houston Jewish headstone that really captures who they were in life. One of the first decisions you’ll need to make is whether you will do a companion marker or an individual marker. This can have a big impact on the design of your husband or wife’s headstone

Companion Houston Jewish Headstones

A Houston Jewish headstone is a great way to memorialize your beloved husband or wife.

Companion headstones are headstones that memorialize two people, usually a married couple. In these cases, one side will feature your spouse’s information like name and dates, while the other side would feature yours.

If you choose a companion grave marker, then there are some design considerations to think about. For instance, any quotes or epitaphs you add should likely fit both of you, as there often isn’t space for two large quotes for both people. However, there is usually room to add personalized symbols to each side for both people. Just keep in mind you want it to look cohesive, so that means using the same font and similar design elements.

Some quotes that may work well for companion grave markers include:

  • “Real love stories never have endings”
  • “Two are better than one because they have a good return for their labor. If either of them falls down, one can help the other up” Ecclesiastes 4:9-10
  • “Together in life and death”

Individual Headstones

By contrast, some married couples choose to have individual Houston Jewish headstones. In these cases, they will usually be similar in size, shape, and color, but the contents on the stone will be different and more individualized. Keep in mind that two different headstones will affect Houston Jewish headstone costs

If you create an individual headstone for your spouse, you typically have more room for epitaphs and symbols. Usually, the quotes you use will be slightly different depending on whether you lost your husband or wife.

Some headstone quotes for a wife include:

  • “O, Lord, I put her in thy hands”
  • “She walked in beauty”
  • “To know her was to love her”

Some headstone quotes for a husband include:

  • “No man is indispensable, but some are irreplaceable”
  • “To those who knew and loved him his memory will never grow old”
  • “A man greatly beloved”
